Playing For Education

The first years of our life are totally determined by one thing: Playing. Of course it is not a waste of time; it is a very important educational element and necessary part of our growth process. But there are different ways of playing and there are toys that make somehow more sense to educate our youngsters than others.

In this piece of writing I will mainly focus on dolls and their importance for our youngsters. Since I am originally from Germany where especially the idea of a doll carriage (German: Puppenwagen) is pretty common and where it has also even been developed to some extend, I will also explain what the developers give to think about it. Should we for example buy a doll carriageregarding that it is not very cheap only being a buggy for a doll?

Some people might say that one should not invest too much in the care for the dolls. The amount of money you have to spend for a beautiful doll is quite a lot anyway, so why should one invest more in extra things for the dolls. A lot of parents will accepts their children playing with dolls, but not understand the idea of treating the dolls almost like real humans and buying extra things for them.

A puppet buggy will give your children an idea how much effort it actually takes to look after a child and that it also requires many other things like a Puppenwagen for example. Of course in the end you will not have to buy anything possible in puppet size, but it might be good to give your children at least an idea that there might be stuff you have to buy for your children. If they want to have more utensils for their puppets you might just answer: You are right. Actually a child would need that, but a puppet might be happier with a bit less equipment. But later on you will surely have to buy this for your own children.

If you ask children, most of them will answer that they would appreciate to have more utensils for their dolls. They love their puppets and want to treat them the best possible way. This should not amuse the parents; this should be encouraged by them. This particular behaviour of our children shows that they do not only want equipment for themselves. Maybe for the first time they think about the needs of somebody else.
